Going forward, if you're buying apps (or other content) from the Google Play store, you'll be able to use your PayPal account to pay for your digital goods.

Previously, you could use a credit or debit card (of course), gift cards, or your network if you're on T-Mobile (EE) in the UK, but now PayPal is another option for those splashing cash in Google's funfair of apps.

In fact, PayPal is now supported in the Play store in twelve countries, including the UK, US, Ireland and Canada, along with Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain.

Ibrahim Elbouchikhi, Google Play Product Manager, announced: "Our goal is to provide users with a frictionless payment experience, and this new integration is another example of how we work with partners from across the payments industry to deliver this to the user".

Google noted that sales of Play apps and games had more than quadrupled over the past year, which isn't surprising given the growth and acceleration of the Android OS. Two-thirds of app purchases are now made outside the US.

While that's all undoubtedly good news for the big G, it's still lagging behind Apple's app store according to App Annie, which pegs Cupertino's total app revenue at 85 percent more than Google's store.
