Cirqle gives you more control over sharing photos and videos

Cirqle

We all have photos and videos that we want to share with other folks. We do it all too often on Facebook, sometimes without even considering that it's a broad audience we are sharing them with, who may not want to, or should not, see all our intimate moments on display.

And let's be real for a minute: not all of us are in awe about someone drunk dancing on video, baby pictures, or mirror selfies (sorry that you had to hear that now) -- some of us may be, sure, but others may be more interested in, just as a totally and completely random example, seeing photos of fast cars (guilty as charged!). For those who want to fully control who can see their photos and videos, there is new app to consider, and it's called Cirqle.

Cirqle lets you share photos as well as videos (and collect them too) with so-called Cirqles (circles or groups, if you will), which can be either open to everyone or limited to a select group of people. In the latter case, you can choose whether others can pitch in, apply to join or only be invited. It is similar to how Google+ is meant to be used, but without having the Google element into the equation.

Cirqle wants to make it easy for Facebook users to join, as it allows folks to sign up using their Facebook account (you can also sign up the traditional way, by using an email address). It's also making it easy to connect with other people using Cirqle, as it can search for them based on your Facebook, Twitter or email address. And since more than a billion of us are on Facebook, moving the sharing to Cirqle is painless.

Well, painless may be overstating it, as Cirqle is only available for iOS (it's optimized for iPhones and iPod touch devices), which definitely limits its appeal right now, as Android is the more popular mobile platform across the globe (with a few exceptions, of course).

Cirqle is available to download from Apple App Store.
