When choosing software for business it helps to have a reliable source of information. Earlier this month we spoke to G2 Crowd to find out more about how its crowd sourcing of reviews works.

Today the company has launched its latest report looking at backup software. Made up of data from over 200 reviews across 11 products, the report names two Leaders and five High Performers in the category.

NetApp Backup and Recovery and EMC Avamar were named Leaders in the report, having strong customer satisfaction scores along with a large market presence. The High Performers, earning strong customer satisfaction scores with a smaller market presence than Leaders were: CrashPlan, Veeam, Druva inSync, CommVault Simpana and Asigra Cloud Backup. Crash Plan received the overall highest satisfaction score.

Across all backup products, reviewers report that the product they use meets their requirements at an average rate of 87 percent, and on average say they're 84 percent likely to recommend the product they use. Ease of Setup received the lowest average satisfaction score across all products (78 percent) with many reviewers noting setup as a main reason for their overall product satisfaction. Veeam scored the highest in this category, with 92 percent satisfaction.

Daniel Honigman, G2 Crowd's Marketing Manager points out that, "Though some products were rated better than others, the largely positive reviews indicate that the backup products on the Grid generally meet users' backup and recovery needs as reviewers expected".
