Skype for Android 6.11 adds improved sharing and tracking tools

Microsoft has released Skype for Android 6.11, with a focus on helping users share and keep track of what Skype says are "moments that matter".

New features include the ability to save video messages, contact and chat management tools via a long tap, improved search tools and the ability to share photos directly with groups.

Perhaps the most useful feature added in version 6.11 is the ability to manage conversations. Users should switch to the Recents tab, then long tap on a contact or chat conversation. This will bring up a toolbar at the top of the screen allowing users to delete the conversation, mark it as read or mute notifications from that conversation going forward.

Skype for Android 6.11 also makes it possible for users to transfer video from conversations -- whether recorded using the app or received from a contact -- in the phone’s photo gallery. To do so, long tap it and choose the "Save to gallery" option.

The search tool has also been improved to now allow users to search conversations for content in addition to looking for contact and group names.

The app also comes with the promise of newer and simpler ways to share. Users can now share photos directly from their photo gallery within a group conversation. When chatting users can also now tap on images, other files and even Mojis to forward them to other contacts and groups too.

Users will see that Mojis don’t play automatically when forwarded -- instead, they can play it manually by tapping it if required.

Skype for Android 6.11 is available now as a free download for Android phones and tablets running Android 4.0.3 or later.
