New platform helps techies discover their market value
Not everyone is on the lookout for a new job, but it's always interesting to know what opportunities are available and what your worth might be.
San Francisco-based Woo is launching its platform for letting tech talent gauge their market value and find potential opportunities.
When users sign up to Woo they select their most important job criteria -- such as relocation, opportunities for promotion, desired technologies to work on, salary, ability to work from home, and type and size of company. Woo then imports profile data from places like LinkedIn, Github and Stack Overflow, and strips all personal identifiers through its proprietary anonymizing technology. Once complete, the person's anonymized profile is posted for companies to view, and the user simply waits to review inbound opportunities.
"While most tech professionals are happily employed, we all have ambitions for different things that we are curious to know if we can achieve. Woo helps people understand their market demand and the possibilities available to them, while remaining completely anonymous. With Woo, techies take zero-risk and exert minimal effort to get answers to their 'what if' questions, so they better understand their career options and alternatives", says Woo CEO Liran Kotzer.
When a potential employer is interested, and also agrees to meet the user's key terms, Woo allows the company to approach the individual but remains a gatekeeper during the process. Woo provides the user with information on the position, along with a comprehensive background dossier on the prospective employer, including its team, culture, key products and funding, and an explanation of how the position specifically meets the individual's demands. The user is free to ignore the offer, but if they are interested Woo will release their details for the employer to get in touch.
Woo is currently available on an invitation-only basis to tech professionals in the San Francisco Bay Area. It plans to expand into other industry areas and geographic locations in the near future. If you're interested you can go to Woo's website and request an invitation.
