Your PornHub video habit will help save whales in February

This may initially generate some snickers and likely lots of tabs quickly closing, but I assure you the story is safe for work. The only nudity here is the whale in the image above. In fact this is a story about charity and of helping to save endangered species, albeit in a rather unconventional way.

It's no secret that porn drives the internet to a certain degree, and many claim it also drives innovation to some extent. True or not, it's big business that can generate massive revenues for the purveyors of the content. One of the big ones is PornHub and it is deciding to give back in the form of charitable donations to a worthwhile cause.

The company is announcing it will be donating money for videos streamed over the next month to the Moclips Cetological Society, an organization interested in helping the endangered giant creatures of our seas.

In a brief announcement, the site states "World Whale Day is February 13th, so Pornhub has pledged to help save the whales by donating 1 cent for every 2000 videos viewed on the site, from February 8th - 29th to whale conservation efforts. All proceeds will be going to The Moclips Cetological Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving the whales through knowledge and conservation based out of Washington. Sperm whales, humpback whales, we love them all! So please help us save the ocean's gentle giants".

There are many jokes that can be made here, but it is serious as it aims to help a big part of our ecological balance as a planet. It's hard to fault any company for doing something like this. The methods in this case are just a bit unorthodox.
