Microsoft expands Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection Preview to more enterprise users

Security is one of the features of Windows 10 that Microsoft has been particularly eager to highlight. It's something that's important to everyone, but especially enterprise customers. Earlier in the year the company launched a preview of Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection, and now this is being made available to a wider audience.

The program is still in the testing phase at the moment, but Microsoft is looking for feedback from IT professionals and enterprise customers. Although this is described as a public preview, would-be participants are required to register their interest and their applications are subject to approval.

Microsoft says that the tool offers an additional layer of protection for those who need it most, and points out that it is already in use by more than 500,000 early-adopters. ATP not only offers protection against what Microsoft calls "brazen and highly sophisticated" attacks, but also helps those hit by attacks to investigate and respond to them.

Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection builds on existing security defenses Windows 10 offers today, and provides an additional post-breach layer of protection to the Windows 10 security stack. With a combination of client technology built into Windows 10 and a robust cloud service, it will help detect threats that have made it past other defenses, provide enterprises with information to investigate the breach across endpoints, and offer response recommendations.

If you're interested in testing it out, pay a visit to the Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection product website to find out more and to sign up.
