Updated solution to improve control over enterprise data use

Data

As organizations rely more and more on data, so keeping it secure and making sure it can only be accessed by the appropriate people becomes increasingly important.

To address this, identity and access management company SailPoint is launching an updated version of its SecurityIQ solution that provides an integrated and comprehensive approach to governing all data in the enterprise.

SecurityIQ will allow enterprises to manage unstructured data that exists in many different formats and locations. This allows them to meet new challenges to both controlling and governing access to information. For example, compliance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which requires material changes in how and where organizations store customer data, and more importantly how they grant access to that data to employees, contractors and business partners.

By putting identity and data governance at the core of their security strategy, organizations can better reduce the risk of a data breach and the resulting penalties that may occur.

"The growing amount of unstructured data poses a serious risk for organizations," says Paul Trulove, vice president of product management at SailPoint. "Given the volume of data that exists across file servers, email, cloud storage services and SharePoint sites, visibility is increasingly becoming a significant challenge. With SecurityIQ, particularly when coupled with SailPoint's industry-leading identity governance solutions, organizations can now manage access to all data through a common set of tools and processes. Having a unified approach to securing access to sensitive data, whether it resides in applications or in files, or on-premises or in the cloud, is a critical component of managing risk and complying with global regulatory requirements".

SecurityIQ works seamlessly with SailPoint's identity governance solutions to discover sensitive data throughout the enterprise and control access to it. It also includes patent-pending collaboration technology for identifying data owners, which results in better oversight and reduces risk of inappropriate access to sensitive data.
