Mobile devices set to influence holiday shopping habits

Mobile shopping

We're increasingly reliant on our mobile devices for many aspects of our lives and that includes our shopping.

As we move towards the holiday season advertising platform Opera Mediaworks has surveyed 800 mobile users to find out how they intend to use their mobile devices for their seasonal shopping.

Among the findings are that 40 percent of shoppers have made mobile purchases directly from an advertisement and 57 percent would make a mobile purchase if the product was relevant. In addition nine out of 10 shoppers find value in having their mobile devices with them while shopping in-store.

There are a number of factors that influence millennial shoppers to buy via their mobiles. 73 percent say they would buy if offered free shipping, 51 percent via a sale and 45 percent via a coupon. 33 percent say they will shop on Black Friday and 22 percent afterwards. One in three millennials prefer to shop in a dedicated app and one in four like personalized notifications when shopping in-app.
