AOL Launches Online Radio With XM

AOL said on Thursday it has began testing a version of its radio service that includes XM Satellite Radio content. AOL first announced details of the partnership with XM in mid-April, which also includes the company taking over XM's current online radio offering. AOL is requesting during the beta phase that customers send their feedback.

Preliminary tests of the service by BetaNews showed it was free of any major problems. The most noticeable difference between the current XM online service -- and even its broadcast offering -- was sound quality. AOL offered a crisper and less tinny sound than what normally occurs with online radio, and also to some extent with the XM satellite service.

Would like very much to hear station CNBC business news while doing my financial work on the computer. Seems like there would be a big mkt for this as many people use the computer as I do. My automobile radio has this XM feature and it is great to hear the TV broadcast on the radio. Posasible?????

Oh My....I am so excited to know others are also experiencing problems. I have spent several hours online talking with the "Help" Section...still no AOL XM.!
It continually tells me something about Active X, yet I have it...and the 'error' delivers me to some ...digital download!!!

Anyone else with this group of specific problems??? And yes, is there a 'chat' to go to to help find help other than AOL Help (always successful before this exact problem)!!
Thanks.

I am sick of trying to access radio@aol and having MSN or IE crash at step 3. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have tried to fix it but to no avail.

I think I have found a real solution to this problem. I had a "preset" of a station that is no longer available on AOL Radio and every time I would try to load Radio from within AOL, the software would hang.

I went into AOL Radio via INTERNET EXPLORER -- NOT FROM WITHIN AOL and then went into the Radio at AOL program and deleted the old preset in RADIO SETUP. Once my obsolete preset was replaced by a valid one, the Radio program now launches perfectly from within AOL as well as from the web service.

Addendum: To get into the AOL Radio software via Internet Explorer, go to aol.com and follow the music links to Radio@aol

Experiancing the same problem. Works sometimes and freezes on station loading other times. I have two computers and the other one always works. They say they are having server problems, they should fix it fast. It worked for awhile but now its intermittant. Glad Im not the only one, i thought it was my computer

Let's just hope XM don't do anything stupid like merging with AOL.

Aol's online radio has always been the best online radio on the web. Now with XM online services added to it, it's just greatly fantastic. The sound quality of aol radio is amazing. I got my pc hooked up to my Hi-Fi stereo and aol's online radio is blowing my head off with my favourite tunes from its smooth jazz fm. There is no better time to become a member if you are not one yet with all the massive goodies the ISP heavyweight is comming up with lately. I am loving my membership.
