Nuclear is a dead end not because there is zero merit to the possibities of creating a real nuclear power infrastructure that no longer uses uranium which is theoretical safe (because uranium isn't and is only the standard because it can become weaponized more readily) and leaves very little waste but by the fact that these first gen nuke plants will never actually be replaced by a new generation of Thorium plants which can break down the spent fuel rods safely. They've had fortunes sunk into them and most are run by entities that will Just like this Fukushima incident shows let them run without being capable of dealing with emergencies. The layouts are all crazy with backup generators and spent fuel rods in the worst locations possible.

No one can be trusted with the reponsibility of keeping the world safe from nuclear accidents. That's why nuclear is a dead end.

A huge part of this people are downplaying is the fact that they believe there is still radioactive seapage into the ocean. Chernobyl never had the ability to release nuclear materials directly into the water which is close to currents which will spread this who knows how far. When this is all finally accounted for this will most likely actually affect more people than Chernobyl especially since no one really has anykind of plan to control this situation.

This is just what you call anti-competitive behaviour. Are Apple right? It's their company. But when it comes to choosing my next phone, things like this make my decision for me. So cheers for that.

The United States is not the only country in the world! In Europe, IE is stripped out of Windows and not the default browser. Also, the French and other Europeans are very suspicious of Microsoft and IE and it is very poorly thought of there. Yes, in the US IE will probably always be dominant on desktops and laptops. But in other countries NO WAY. In many European countries IE has been a minority browser for many years, and the only real trend we see in those places is people switching from Firefox to Chrome due to IMO the reliability of Chrome and the inability of Firefox to fix itself when it gets mangled.

Sorry to jump in, a common point with Chernobyl is that it's was the latest civil nuclear accident. I find that "The amount of Cesium 137 in the fuel rods at Fukushima Daiichi is the equivalent of 85 Chernobyls" is rather informative. You pointed out that this amount of material won't likely to explode like Chernobyls is also interesting. These technical details are not obvious to most of people not familiar with this particular topic.

I think the issue of trends is important here. If Android was pulling ahead on carriers that also sell iPhone, Apple could eventually be relegated to an unimportant niche. Similarly, if Android was winning the war for the dominant OS on mobile devices, developers could eventually desert Apple. So far neither of these things is happening.
