98Lite Version 2.2.1 Beta Testing

98lite.net has produced another beta of its Windows installer and tweaking program for testers to play with.

Version 2.2.1 Beta boasts the ability to add or remove an extra 25mb of files and related materials from Windows. Such programs as Internet Explorer and Direct3D, as well as Media Player and Task Scheduler can be uninstalled or reinstalled using 98lite.

The registered version of this program, 98lite Professional, also comes with a micro installer which slims down the Windows installation. Files not included in the micro installation of Windows include Media Player, Internet Explorer, Outlook Express and Microsoft Network (MSN), as well as many more.

98lite Professional gives a choice of three diferent desktop configurations ranging from the Windows 95 Explorer (Sleek) to the bloated Windows 98 Explorer (Overweight) and is available in multiple languages. The registration cost for the Professional version is "voluntary by donation of whatever amount you think 98lite is worth to you," according to the 98lite.net Web site.
