FreeDSL Service Coming in April 2000

Broadband Digital Group will offer free digital subscriber line (DSL) services to consumers starting in April of 2000 free of charge. Using advertisements and marketing strategies, FreeDSL will bring broadband to users at no cost.

Initially aiming at apartment buildings and smaller businesses, the founder Ryan Steelberg believes that is where money will be made the quickest.

The money to support this service will be generated from advertisements much like a free ISP would do.

FreeDSL will show advertisements on its FreeDSL Browser Assistant which is offered in cooperation with Winfire to provide users with shortcuts for the Internet. Along with the FreeDSL Browser Assistant, the service will include free e-mail and other Internet tools.

Along with keeping this browser assistant visible on the computer screen, users must provide anonymous demographic and geographic information so that targeted marketing can be implemented. Users must also refer 10 customers to FreeDSL to receive the high-speed modem required for the service.

Skeptics believe that Broadband Digital Group will not be able to meet the demands of consumers due to supply constraints in the market today. They site problems cable companies are having with meeting demands today as an example of current market conditions.

For more information and a speed demonstration, visit FreeDSL.com and to sign up for the service. Activations begin in April of 2000.
