Microsoft Expands Mouse Lineup
Microsoft said Tuesday it would expand its line of mice to include more affordable models with its proprietary High Definition technology built in. High Definition will improve mouse responsiveness, precision and make for smoother tracking, the company claims.
The first mouse to be released would be a re-launch of Microsoft's popular Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse. The new version would include the new technology, as well as feature a smaller receiver than its predecessor, making it easier to store away. The laptop mouse would retail for $29.95 USD.
To be released later are the Wireless Optical Mouse 2000, also for $29.95 USD, with an ambidextrous design and three buttons, and the Wireless Laser Mouse 5000, with five buttons, Magnifier button and Tilt Wheel. That model would retail for $49.95 USD.
The Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 is available starting Tuesday. The Laser Mouse would be released in late April, followed by the release of the Wireless Optical Mouse 2000 in June.
"Since we launched our High Definition line just last September, we have sold over a million units," said Rusty Jeffress, general manager of the Hardware Group at Microsoft. "We design our proprietary chip technology to provide our customers with the best possible performance so they enjoy their computing experiences no matter where they are."
