Have anxiety over the 2016 US election? Spotify will make you laugh or cry

While 2016 is the actual election year, it sort of feels as though it began soon after the previous inauguration back in January 2013. For many people, it hasn't been a fun ride, but there has certainly been some entertainment along the path to November 8th.

We're into the final fortnight of this whole circus and it's perhaps time to put it in perspective. What better way than with music? It has a way of defining lives -- songs invoke certain memories, and awaken past events.

In this case, it's more amusement than retrospect. Spotify has unveiled its 2016 election playlist and many of the titles included will bring a chuckle.

The musical adventure opens, appropriately, with REM's classic "It's the End of the World as We Know it" and then powers through many more numbers that include "Nasty" by Janet Jackson (a phrase that may ring a bell), Public Enemy's "Welcome to the Terrordome", Angus and his mates telling you about the "Highway to Hell", and more. There is some hope buried in here however -- Gloria Gaynor's disco classic reminds you "I will Survive".

Once the music and the frustration of 2016 has worn you out then Brahm's Lullaby will perhaps give you some welcome rest in the end. You can check it all out here, if you dare.
