Facebook is on something of a mission to clean up its act, or at least its image, at the moment. The social network is looking to tackle the problems of trolls, bullying and fake news, and its latest campaign is a bid to keep younger users safe.

The minimum age for using Facebook is 13, but this still means that there are some young, naïve and impressionable users out there. With its newly launched Parents Portal, Facebook is looking to arm parents with the information they need to educate their kids about staying safe.

The site is little to shout about, but it sees Facebook collecting together information and help files it believes will be useful in putting parents' minds at rest. By the company's own admission, the information available through the portal is 'basic'; Facebook says:

Keeping you and your information safe is at the core of everything we do. Whether you have a personal account or your teen does, we’ve compiled some basic information and tips to help you get the most out of your experience and help your child navigate theirs. We’re also pleased to connect you with online safety organizations around the world that offer additional resources specifically for parents.

The new site includes step-by-step videos and is available in over 55 languages around the world. We hope that you find these resources useful and that Facebook helps you and your children connect to the people and things that matter to you most.
