HyperX adds Cherry MX Red and Brown switch options to Alloy FPS Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Hyper X ALLOY FPS Red & Brown Box

Mechanical keyboards are all the rage nowadays, and for good reason -- they can be brilliant for both gaming and typing. The tactile and audible feedback that they can offer are sometimes a world beyond the crappy pack-in keyboards that come with many desktops. That's not to say that all non-mechanical keyboards are bad -- that is not the case at all. In fact, it is largely personal preference.

Back in October, respected manufacturer HyperX (a Kingston gaming brand) released the 'ALLOY FPS' Cherry MX Blue mechanical LED backlit gaming keyboard. The problem? Not everyone likes Blue switches. You see, different switches perform in different ways, and consumers can vary wildly in their preferences. You can witness visual examples of the differences below. Today, the company refreshes the keyboard with two new Cherry MX switch colors/types -- Brown and Red.

"The HyperX Alloy FPS keyboard family now includes three versions: with Cherry MX Blue, Red or Brown mechanical switches. Additional textured red keycaps are also included for maximum control and enhanced feel. The ultra-portable, HyperX Alloy FPS comes complete with a high-quality mesh travel pouch to store and protect the keyboard and accessories for tournaments, LAN events or wherever gaming takes you. A convenient USB port is available for charging a phone. Keys are backlit with red LEDs and have six preset LED profiles, including a custom mode. The keyboard also offers Game Mode to easily disable the Windows key to prevent game play interruptions, along with 100-percent anti-ghosting and full N-Key rollover functionality. The keys are guaranteed for 50 million key strokes per key switch," says HyperX.

Marcus Hermann, senior business manager, HyperX explains that the company, "is pleased to expand our Alloy FPS keyboard product line to now include Cherry MX Red or Brown switches, along with the blue switches we introduced in 2016. Gamers who play FPS classics like CS:GO or Overwatch can now choose from a variety of Alloy FPS gaming keyboards including a linear switch, a tactile switch or something in between".

Want to buy the Alloy FPS Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with Cherry MX Blue, Red, or Brown switches? All three options are available immediately for $99.99. If you aren't sure which color you should by, unfortunately, I cannot answer that question. Everybody is different, which is why HyperX deserves kudos for serving more gamers with the Alloy FPS.
