New Samsung Places tool makes it easier to call businesses

While people often search for businesses on the web, the most popular way of actually getting in touch is still by phone. But that means getting the details from your browser and switching to the dialer app to make the call.

Caller profiling and phone spam protection company Hiya is launching the first implementation of its Hiya Business Profiles product for the Samsung Galaxy S8, which allows users to find and call businesses from within the dialer.

Samsung Places will replace the Favorites tab in the native dialer and provide users with an integrated search and discovery experience. It delivers all the context they need to find and contact a nearby business from just one screen.

"Phone calls remain the most effective interaction for businesses and consumers and yet, calling a business is a needlessly cumbersome process," says Mayur Kamat, VP product at Hiya. "With Hiya Business Profiles in place, Samsung Galaxy S8 users will never have to leave the dialer to call a business. Simply put, the Samsung phone app is getting smarter."

When users open the phone app, they will see a new tab called Places next to their Log and Contacts tabs. They can then search, find and call any local business without leaving the dialer. There's the option to find businesses directly from the phone app by searching in categories such as restaurants, shopping, health, automotive, financial, and more. The software will also recommend relevant businesses to the user based on their location and the time of day.

Launching today for Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ users across 27 countries you can find out more about Samsung Places on the Hiya blog.
