Chuwi unveils Surface Pro 4-like SurBook

Chuwi SurBook

After unveiling an affordable alternative to the Surface Book in the form of the Hi13, Chuwi is now setting its sights on Microsoft's other hybrid device, the Surface Pro 4, as it just unveiled the SurBook.

The SurBook offers similar specs to the Surface Pro 4, but it will likely be offered at a fraction of the cost. It comes with some pretty interesting hardware, but the 12.3-inch 3:2 display with a resolution of 2,736 by 1,834 is probably the most impressive thing about it.

It should be noted that the SurBook does not pack quite the same punch as the Surface Pro 4, as it's powered by an Intel Apollo Lake N3450 processor. However, it offers 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 10,000mAh battery, which should prove sufficient for casual use.

The tablet, which features a kickstand, comes with two cameras, 2MP and a 5MP, two full-sized USB 3.0 ports and a USB Type-C port with audio and video support, and it runs Windows 10.

There's also the detachable keyboard, which is "ultra-slim," and a stylus with 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity that complete the package.

There is no word yet on pricing or availability, but we will update this post as we learn more. Before going on sale, the SurBook will be introduced on Indiegogo as part of a crowdfunding campaign.
