New PowerToys 0.31.1 is here with important updates for FancyZones and more
Microsoft has released a new version of its PowerToys utilities collection for Windows 10, bringing improvements to FancyZones and PowerToys Run. The latest update also includes numerous bug fixes.
Included among the new arrivals in PowerToys 0.31.1 are a new dark mode option and an enhanced interface for FancyZones.

If you were wondering what happed to PowerToys 0.31.0, this remained an internal build after Microsoft discovered a crash-causing bug in the new FancyZones editor. This, and other problems, are addressed in version 0.31.1.
Microsoft says the the aim of the 0.31.x release cycles was to improve a couple of the PowerToys utilities, so this is not really a major release.
The company shares various highlights from v0.31, which are supplemented by fixing FanzyZones' error #9396 in the 0.31.1 update:
General
- Bug report tool and improved logging now added to our system tray.
- Added in CodeQL and other CI improvements.
- OOBE Spec should be finalized
ARM64 Progress
- .NET Core upgrade for code bases the PowerToys team controls is complete. We still have two external dependencies that are .NET Framework that need to be updated.
Color Picker
- Bug fixes in editor
FancyZones
- Streamlined, simplified user interface (Massive thanks to @niels9001)
- Dark mode for the editor
- Certain settings (e.g. number of zones, spacing settings) can now be set on individual layouts.
