Testers Sought for D&D Online Alpha

The fantasy world of Dungeons & Dragons is about to be brought to life online. Turbine, Inc. has begun accepting applications for an alpha test of its multiplayer online role-playing game based upon Wizards of the Coast's Dungeons & Dragons.

During the game, players can peruse the frontier city of Stormreach and explore outlying lands of the continent of Xen’drik. Gamers will be accepted on an incremental basis, with more being added as testing processes.

"Fans have long waited to venture into the far away world and epic fantasy of Dungeons & Dragons Online, and now Turbine is anxious to raise the curtain to give its first sneak-peek," said Judith Hoffman, executive producer at Turbine, Inc.

"Turbine's commitment to its fans is to deliver the most immersive and accurate online D&D experience possible. We hope the Alpha process helps us reinforce our vision for this mysterious and exciting world."

In Turbine's vision of Dungeons & Dragons, players are able to create their own characters from a slew of existing multiple classes and races, and match wits with opponents while locked in epic battle as the storyline unfolds.

Interested gamers may sign up at Turbine's beta homepage and can visit the game's official Web site to learn more. Dungeons & Dragons Online is being produced jointly with Atari and will go live in the second half of 2005.
