OnePlus discounts its One flagship by $50 in weekly global flash sale beginning today
Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus announces today that it is slashing $50 off the retail price of its flagship One smartphone in seven global flash sales it has planned for the phone this month. The first flash sale begins today, and the rest will run through this week.
Often referred to as the flagship killer smartphone, the 16GB Silk White variant of OnePlus One will now be available for purchase at $249 (previously $299), while the top-of-the-line 64GB Sandstone Black will be available at $299.
The flash sale is being held at the company's official website. On a blog post, the company announces the following date and timing for the flash sales:
June 1 – 12:00 GMT (8 am EST)
June 2 – 2:00 GMT (10 pm EST -1 day)
June 3 – 12:00 GMT (8 am EST)
June 4 – 2:00 GMT (10 pm EST -1 day)
June 5 – 12:00 GMT (8 am EST)
June 6 – 2:00 GMT (10 pm EST -1 day)
June 7 – 12:00 GMT (8 am EST)
The company, however, notes that people in South Asian countries including India (which is now OnePlus One’s biggest market) aren't eligible to purchase the device at the discounted price.
For a refresh, the OnePlus One sports a 5.5-inch FHD (1080×1920 pixels resolution) with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a Snapdragon 801 processor coupled with 3GB RAM. It packs in a 3,100mAh battery. On the camera front, the phone comes with a 13-megapixel sensor at the back and a 5-megapixel shooter upfront. On the software end, the One recently received Android Lollipop-powered CM12s from Cyanogen.
The company recently announced that it will be launching the One Plus Two, the successor to One in the third quarter of this year (July -- September).
