Ashampoo Uninstaller 8.0 adds drag-and-drop program removal, support for Opera
German software developer Ashampoo GmbH has released Ashampoo Uninstaller 8.0, a major new version of its program clean-up tool for Windows.
The new release adds several notable new features: the ability to drag and drop programs to remove them, support for the Opera web browser and a new File Wiper module for thorough file cleaning.
Ashampoo Uninstaller 8.0 comes with the promise of "deep clean technology", a standard feature in most third-party uninstall utilities that scours for leftover program files and Registry entries after the application question is uninstalled.
Version 8 comes with the promise of improvements in this area thanks to the addition of a new File Wiper module, which can permanently wipe both applications and sensitive data from the user’s drive.
It also offers installation monitoring, which can detect program installations, taking snapshots both before and after installation to allow for even more thorough program removal. The feature is equally capable of detecting hidden and invisible program (and browser add-on) installations. Again, version 8 promises better detection and object tracking.
The new release also introduces the ability to drag and drop program shortcuts into the application window to trigger the uninstall and clean-up process. Also added is support for Opera, making it easier for users to keep on top of unwanted browser extensions.
The program’s claim of user-friendliness is enhanced in Ashampoo Uninstaller 8.0 with new Uninstalled and Windows App categories, plus the ability to further customize the view to user satisfaction -- for example, a new tile view for the Batch Uninstall feature.
The new build is rounded off with the usual mix of unspecified performance and stability improvements.
Ashampoo Uninstaller 8.0 is available as a trial download for PCs running Windows 7 or later. The full version costs $39.99 new, or $15.00 as an upgrade from a previous version.
