Mechanix Wear launches 'ColdWork M-Pact' intelligent heated work gloves
Here on the East Coast of the USA, we have been getting hit with some pretty nasty snow lately. Is it pretty? Sure, but I still hate it. You see, as a homeowner, I am responsible for cleaning it off my property. Yours truly has to go out in the frigid weather with a shovel and a snow blower to make sure my stoop, walkway, and driveway are all accessible.
As a result of the cold weather, my hands are rather chapped and dry lately -- I could probably benefit from some better gloves. As a "tech guy" gloves are a rather boring topic, but today, a new such product caught my eye. Called "ColdWork M-Pact," these hardcore gloves are from popular company Mechanix Wear. Believe it or not, in addition to the expected protections, they have some cool technology too.
First off, yes, the index fingers are capacitive touchscreen-friendly, meaning you don't have to take them off to use your smartphone. A cool feature for sure, but that is rather common these days. In addition, they contain a rechargeable battery and the ability to generate heat, keeping your hands extra toasty. Again, that is something found on other gloves.
What makes these really stand out, however, is the apparent ability to pair them to your phone with Bluetooth so you can control the temperature using the companion smartphone app. How cool is that? Imagine customizing the temperature of your hands while working out in the cold. App aside, they contain technology that turns on the heating function automatically when needed. Very cool -- or warm, I should say.
"The ColdWork M-Pact Heated Glove is a groundbreaking product that delivers an intelligent, self-regulating, and activating Thermal Technology Heating System from clim8, the strength of Durahide cowhide, ultimate insulation from 133g Primaloft, and maximum knuckle protection from 4mm D3O. This glove combines revolutionary technology, materials, and protection to ensure that you are warm and can work in the harshest winter conditions," says Mechanix Wear.
The company shares a dozen features of this new glove below.

If you are like me, you are very interested in buying these gloves, but sadly, there is one big problem -- the price. You see, Mechanix Wear is asking $250 for a pair, putting them out of reach of many consumers. If you aren't scared away by the price tag, however, you can buy a pair from the company here.
