Sharegate streamlines Office 365 migration
Cloud-based services like Office 365 offer an attractive proposition for businesses, but can present problems when it comes to migrating data from existing systems.
Montreal-based Sharegate is releasing the latest version of its SharePoint and Office 365 migration product with support for the Microsoft Office 365 Migration API which will allow customers to move their data to the cloud faster than before.
The API works by exporting content into a migration package that then gets sent to Azure Storage. A timer job then runs in Azure which takes that package and puts the content into SharePoint or OneDrive for Business based on the customer’s package settings.
Key features of Sharegate include the ability to choose which elements you want to move, retain version history and metadata, copy security and permission levels from SharePoint, and migrate workflows. It can also migrate older versions of SharePoint to the 2013 version.
In addition Sharegate has announced that it's partnering with the Nintex workflow automation platform to include a migration path for Nintex Workflows and Nintex Forms between SharePoint versions, and from on-premise versions to Office 365.
"Together, it's a real win-win for our mutual customers because they can keep their Nintex Workflows and Nintex Forms as they move to Office 365, and we give them a better experience through the migration process and beyond," says Simon De Baene, CEO of Sharegate.
More information on the Office 365 migration API can be found on the Sharegate blog, as can details of the Nintex partnership.
