Best Windows 10 apps this week

Two-hundred-and-twenty-six in a series. Welcome to this week's overview of the best apps, games and extensions released for Windows 10 on the Windows Store in the past seven days.

The Windows 10 Creators Update is available already. You can check out Mark's post on how to install it if you need help with that.

Along with the update come changes to the Store's rules. One of them bans emulators officially.

As always, if I missed an app or game that has been released this week that you believe is particularly good, let me know in the comments below or notify me via email instead.

Discounts this week

The following list is a selection of the best deals. Make sure you check out the Store for all offers.

Some apps are discounted for more than one week. Only new apps and games are listed below. Check out the previous post in the series for past offers that may still be valid.

New Windows apps and games

Holograms

Holograms is a free app by Microsoft that acts as an introduction to mixed reality on Windows 10.

The app requires Microsoft HoloLens. You can use it to select holograms from the gallery to place them in the room.

Interop Tools (Preview)

The first version of Interop Tools, an application to access the technical parts of a device locally or remotely, has been released as a preview on Windows Store.

One of the apps' main purposes is to edit the Registry on Windows 10 Mobile devices.

Paper Racer is a racing game in which you race on tracks that look like they have been drawn on paper.

The racing game comes with a career mode, and options to race on over 200,000 tracks drawn by players of the game.

You may draw your own tracks, and use them all by yourself, or share them with the world.

Telegram Desktop

The official Telegram Messenger application for Windows 10 has arrived. I reviewed Unigram, an unofficial client last week.

The official app is free and comes without ads. It support direct messaging, and group chat, and the sending and sharing of files.

All data is synced between all devices that you use Telegram on.

The Secret Order 5: The Buried

house

The latest Artifex Mundi adventure game for Windows 10 offers excellent visuals and an interesting story line.

The game is free to try, but needs to be unlocked to play the full game.

It is a hidden object game at its core, but features small puzzle sequences and story elements as well.

Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade

war

You take control of an Imperial Knight in Warhammer 40,000 Freeblade to defeat the enemies of the Emperor.

The game is a rails shooter at its core as your knight walks automatically, and all you do is fire weapons, and engage in melee combat.

Visuals are stunning, and the 170 single player missions will keep you entertained for quite a while. There is also a multiplayer mode, and an upgrade and forge system to customize your knight.

Notable Updates

Next-Player update brings album artist collections, extensions support, keyboard shortcuts, and multiple selections among other new features and improvements.

Netflix update brings option to download TV show episodes or movies for offline viewing on Windows 10 devices.
