Samsung Galaxy Note8 Android smartphone will make its triumphant debut next month

Samsung's Galaxy Note line of devices totally changed the smartphone landscape forever. Not only did the company revolutionize the "phablet" screen size, but with the addition of the wonderful S-Pen, it made handwriting entry relevant again. Even Apple faced the pressure of big-screen Android devices, finally altering its own iPhone with bigger displays.

Life was good for Samsung's Note smartphones, until it wasn't. In a sad turn of events, the most recent variant, the Note7, was recalled due to exploding batteries. While many companies would be unable to survive such a calamity, Samsung has. In fact, its brand is still incredibly strong and many consumers are clamoring for the next such smartphone. I am happy too say that, as rumored, the much-anticipated Galaxy Note8 will make its triumphant debut next month. It will be revealed in New York City at Samsung's annual "Unpacked" press event.

"On August 23rd, Samsung Electronics will reveal the latest member of the Galaxy family with the ultimate multitasking device for those who want to do bigger things with their phone. This highly anticipated addition to the Galaxy roster was specifically designed for people who move through barriers to do more of what matters to them. To mark the launch of the upcoming device, the company is hosting the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked celebration on August 23, 2017, at Park Avenue Armory in New York City," says Samsung.

Yours truly will be representing BetaNews at the event, and we will be sure to share all of the news with you, dear readers. As of now, not much is known about the device -- it may not even be called "Note8" (although it probably will).

As the teaser image above shows, it will likely have a curved display on both sides and, of course, it will come with the S-Pen stylus. Beyond that, I would expect a class-leading camera and USB-C. Will the fingerprint reader be on the rear or under the display? Exciting stuff. It will also be interesting to see whether or not it will have a 3.5mm audio jack. I am sure Samsung has some other things up its sleeve too.
