Illumio partners with BT to offer businesses micro segmentation

Zero trust and micro segmentation have gained in prominence in the past year as working patterns have shifted to a remote model. Illumio has announced that its micro-segmentation solution, Illumio Core, is to be made available as part of telecoms giant BT's portfolio of security solutions

Illumio Core provides application visibility, micro-segmentation, and control of all network communications across any data center, container, VM, or cloud environment. its micro-segmentation technology, delivered with BT Security’s support and services, enables a broad range of customers to prevent lateral movement and the spread of breaches within their networks.

"The way we protect things is kind of agnostic to where those machines are live, whether it's an on premise application workload or in the cloud," Mark Noctor, vice president, EMEA, at Illumio says. "We have customers out there using the whole spectrum between. In fact, we have a number of customers that we work with both directly and through partners and we're helping them to facilitate that migration to a cloud or hybrid category."

BT Security will provide Illumio Core to customers as its 'Managed Micro-Segmentation Security' solution, which will be hosted as a managed application within BT's own trusted network. This allows BT to instantly extract data and provide user-friendly customer reports, all without the use of the public cloud. BT Security has a number of Illumio certified professionals who will support the operation of the service and also uses the solution within its own organization to protect BT against cyber threats.
