Don't want to use Edge in Windows 11? Tough! Microsoft is taking away the option to open links in other browsers

It’s no secret that Microsoft wants people to use its Edge browser. It advertises it in Windows 10 and 11 and of course it’s the default in both of those operating systems too.

The Chromium version of Edge is very good, but plenty of users prefer a different browser, like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. You can use any browser in Windows, but Edge will still spring into life if you click on a link from within the operating system.

Microsoft releases Windows 11 Build 22499 with new taskbar sharing feature

Wednesday isn’t typically the most exciting day of the week, but if you’re a Windows Insider on the Dev Channel you’ll know this is the day when -- baring a few rare exceptions -- Microsoft rolls out a new flight for Windows 11.

Last week the software giant added the ability to mute calls via the taskbar, and today in Windows 11 Build 22499 it takes things a step further, adding the ability to share content from open app windows on the taskbar to Teams meeting calls.

It’s been rumored for a while, but today Microsoft finally took the wraps off Windows 11 SE, its education-focused operating system.

Built specifically to support the K-8 classroom, Windows 11 SE will be available on devices from Acer, ASUS, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo, and others, as well as on the new Surface Laptop SE (pictured above) which Microsoft says has been "custom built for students".

Facebook's new name is just the start -- Zuckerberg says a billion people will be in the metaverse within ten years

We knew that Facebook was going to announce a name change today, but what we didn’t know for certain was what that name would be. The smart money was on something to do with the metaverse, which many firms -- Facebook especially -- believe could be the future of the internet.

Much as Google rebranded its parent company Alphabet back in 2015, so Facebook’s parent company is now called Meta, and gains a new blue infinity symbol for a logo. This change only affects the parent company -- the names of the apps everyone knows and uses -- Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp will stay the same, although the Oculus VR brand will be phased out.

The new Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W arrives priced at $15

The Raspberry Pi Foundation released the first Raspberry Pi Zero nearly six years ago, and it proved so popular it was sold out for months. The fact it was priced at just $5 helped. It was followed up by the wireless-enabled Zero W for $10, and today the company launches a successor to that model.

Priced at $15, the new Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W uses the same Broadcom BCM2710A1 SoC die as the original Raspberry Pi 3. The quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A53 CPU is clocked at 1GHz, delivering a 40 percent increase in single-threaded performance and 5x times more multi-threaded performance than the Zero W.
