Majority of UK businesses want to move their IT infrastructure to the cloud
A significant portion of UK businesses, 63 percent of them, plan to move their entire IT infrastructure to the cloud in the near future, according to a new report by the Cloud Industry Forum (CIF).
The adoption rate of the Cloud among UK’s businesses currently sits at 78 percent, the same as a year before, but "substantially higher" than when the research was first conducted back in 2011, the report says. The report also says that the adoption is likely to increase to 85 percent in the next two years.
Automation will take away more than 100,000 jobs within 20 years in the UK
You shouldn’t fear immigrants taking your job, you should fear robots. A new study by jobs search engine Adzuna suggests that more than 100,000 of current job vacancies will be fully automated within the next 20 years.
The results are based on the study of Oxford University researchers, looking at which jobs would basically be given to robots before 2035.

IT graduates are in high demand in UK
IT graduates are among the most sought after in the United Kingdom, a new report by CV-Library says.
CV-Library, an independent job site, says that the country grapples with the challenge of an impending skills shortage -- there were a total of 893 IT jobs for graduates in January 2016 alone. These jobs were the third most numerous, right behind education (1,139 jobs) and engineering (1,204 jobs).
New UK homes to get superfast broadband -- maybe
The UK government has today announced that it will work with Openreach -- BT's local access network business -- and the Home Builders Federation (HBF) on an agreement to deliver superfast broadband connectivity to new build properties in the UK.
The deal will mean that fibre-based broadband is offered to all new developments either for free or as part of a co-funded initiative.

Majority of UK shoppers prefer mobile devices
Shopping via mobile phones is now the default in the UK, a new research by market intelligence company SimilarWeb suggests.
According to the research, 64.54 percent of all website visits, by UK shoppers to retailers, was made via a mobile device this year. With these figures, the UK has now surpassed the US (55 percent), Germany (43 percent) and France (35 percent). It is still, however, lagging behind India, a country with 65 percent of mobile shoppers.
Virtualization may be up, but data centers remain important
As cloud services continue to evolve and form a large part of UK IT spending, it comes as no surprise that virtualization is set to enjoy a successful 2016.
A recent study by the Cloud Industry Forum (CIF) found that four in five UK organizations formally adopted at least one cloud service in 2015, whilst seeing a year-on-year rise in the uptake in cloud services from 48 percent in 2010 to 84 percent in 2015. These figures show the ability for virtual servers to address two key factors in IT strategy: reducing carbon footprint and providing high power solutions. Both these factors are fueling the migration towards virtual services for organizations. In light of these moves there have been concerns that this could lead to data centers becoming redundant. This is simply not the case.
