Whistler to Power Microsoft TV

According to reports Microsoft plans to announce next week that its powerful upcoming operating system, codenamded Whistler, will be the software backbone of Microsoft TV. In an effort to compete with AOL, Microsoft announced plans to create the system after AOL officially announced and debuted its own settop box, dubbed AOLTV. The Redmond giant will demonstrate a trial of the software in Amsterdam Friday at the International Broadcasting Convention. Microsoft TV is expected to be released in the second half of next year.
