Adobe Prepares Photoshop Album

Adobe on Monday announced an extension to its Photoshop product line designed to organize and share photos on a PC. Dubbed Photoshop Album, the new application joins other one-stop solutions for digital camera owners, such as Apple's iPhoto.
Photoshop Album takes photos from a camera, scanner, or CD and uses a tagging system to categorize photos by date and customized keywords. Users can then assemble slide shows or photo albums, and even create cards and calendars.
"With Photoshop Album we're extending the proven quality of the Photoshop name to a new generation of digital camera owners, making it easy for them to edit, find and share the millions of digital photos now lying unsorted on computers," said Bryan Lamkin, senior vice president of Digital Imaging and Video Products at Adobe Systems, in Monday's announcement.
Taking advantage of Adobe's image editing technology, Photoshop Album allows for one-click photo retouching to fix common problems such as red eye. Photoshop Album also integrates with Photoshop Elements -- Adobe's consumer-based Photoshop suite -- for more advanced editing.
Photoshop Album will officially debut this week at CES in Las Vegas. Adobe expects to ship Photoshop Album to retail outlets in February, for an estimated cost of $50 USD.
