Upgrading to Windows 11? Here are the compatible antivirus products you need

Microsoft is set to begin rolling out Windows 11 next week. For the most part, any programs you run on Windows 10 should run just fine on the new OS, although there will be exceptions.

Antivirus and security solutions are not all certified yet and installing security software that hasn't been fully tested with the new operating system could prove disastrous. Don't worry though, as antivirus testing service AV-Comparatives has done the hard work for you and today releases a list of "approved" security software. Is yours on the list?

Pirate filesharing blog RLSLOG shuts down

Releaselog -- also known simply as RLSLOG -- was for many years the place people went to find out about the latest pirated movies, music, games and software.

It launched in 2006 and took a 'release blog' format that told visitors everything that could wish to know about the latest pirated content, including who released it, the quality, and more. It also provided handy links so that people could download the releases.

Amazon unveils new Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition e-readers

For years I was against the idea of e-readers, preferring to read actual books. When I did eventually make the switch though I was instantly converted, and these days my Kindle Paperwhite is a constant companion, traveling with me everywhere. Its days may be coming to an end soon though.

Not because I’m planning to start reading 'dead tree' books again, but because Amazon today announces two stunning new Paperwhites.

This Ubuntu Linux version of 'Windows 11' is available to install now

Microsoft is set to start rolling out Windows 11 next month, but it will only be offered to newer, compatible systems at first, so even if you have a PC that fits the bill, and supports TPM 2.0, it might be the middle of next year before you have the chance to upgrade. And, of course, if you want to install the new OS on an older PC, the TPM requirement means you simply won’t be able to.

Windowsfx is a Linux OS that borrows its look from various flavors of Microsoft’s operating system, including Windows 7 and Windows 10, and now it’s offering a version that looks just like Windows 11.

Microsoft's Windows marketing campaigns through history are unintentionally hilarious

Every generation of Windows -- well, from Windows 95 onwards at least -- has had a catchy slogan, designed, in some way, to encapsulate what the software giant hoped the OS would bring to users.

With Windows 95, for example, it was "Start me up", because that was the first time Microsoft’s operating system came with a Start button and menu.

iPhone 13 Pro is 'Apple’s most "Pro" iPhone yet' -- which means it's not for most people

Apple today unveiled a number of new products and -- with the exception of the redesigned iPad mini 5G -- there wasn’t much to get excited about.

Sure, the new iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini look good, and sport a number of improvements, especially in the camera department, but they lack the wow factor of previous new models. Of course, the new iPhone 13 Pro -- and super-sized iPhone 13 Pro Max -- is where the smart buyers are going to look right? Probably not.

Apple unveils iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini -- better, but little to get excited about

Every year, Apple takes the wraps off its next generation of iPhone. Some years the new model is revolutionary, and other years, merely evolutionary. iPhone 13, revealed today, definitely falls into the latter class.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty to recommend the new phone, but if you already own the iPhone 12, or iPhone 12 mini, or even a generation or two further back, there’s no need to rush to upgrade.
