Another round of AnyDVD improvements cracks more BD+ discs

In what's becoming a monthly affair for Slysoft, the makers of the DVD and Blu-ray backup disc system AnyDVD have released another update, this time with the capability to back up even more discs with the more sophisticated BD+ protection scheme.

What was supposed to be the beauty of BD+, from publishers' perspective, was its versatility and adaptability in the face of new cracks. But as it turns out, much of the software being used to break protection is like AnyDVD HD -- used mostly for non-malicious purposes, by folks who want to protect the media they legitimately paid for. As a result, breaking the protection is becoming a viable commercial enterprise, making content publishers run faster to adapt broken encryption schemes.

Early adopters are reporting today that use of AnyDVD and AnyDVD HD on systems with Avast Anti-virus software are receiving false positives that can be ignored. There's also a small, though growing, number of BD+ encoded discs that still cannot be copied yet, including the North American (Region A) edition of the Academy Award winning film, The Wrestler.
