Kentik launches network performance monitoring for the cloud era
Migrating systems to the cloud leads to a shift in network traffic patterns that can present a performance challenge for businesses.
Network analytics company Kentik is launching its new Network Performance Monitoring (NPM) aimed at meeting the needs of modern, digital businesses.
It builds on Kentik Detect, a big data-based, SaaS network analytics platform and also includes the nProbe host-based and sensor monitoring agent software from ntop. This can be deployed into hybrid data center and cloud environments, and monitors network performance factors such as latency, retransmits, out of order packets, and packet fragments based on actual application traffic flows, offering admins relevant and actionable intelligence.
Kentik Detect collects network and application performance data points from nProbe or third party sensors along with billions of other routing data points from network infrastructure devices. Using big data-powered ad hoc analytics, powerful anomaly and DDoS detection, and visualization of traffic over actual internet paths and geographies, it gives network engineers a one-stop network intelligence hub for maintaining high application performance.
"Kentik's team came from digital businesses like Akamai, Netflix, YouTube and CloudFlare, so we're deeply aware of the challenges of operating cloud applications and services and the deficiencies of traditional tools to meet those challenges," says Kentik CEO Avi Freedman. "Digital businesses can't afford to go hunting for answers when user experience is on the line. Kentik NPM instantly answers the pivotal question of whether the network is the cause of application performance issues or not; and if so, what to do about it".
Kentik NPM is available now, you can find out more on the company's website and there's a webinar on network performance monitoring for the cloud on September 29.
