Naked Cases protect your iPhone 7 from scratches, without hiding its beauty
The iPhone 7 is undeniably an attractive smartphone. The Jet Black model is particularly beautiful -- I should know, I own one. However, the high gloss finish of the Jet Black model is prone to scratches, and what Apple refers to as "fine micro-abrasions" caused by everyday use.
Apple suggests that if you want to keep your phone in pristine condition you should use one of the many available cases to protect it. But then people won’t see the beauty of the new device, which is a shame. This is where Naked Cases come in.
Described as "The world’s first iPhone 7 scratch-resistant and naked cases" these are custom-cut from XPEL ULTIMATE paint protection film, the same scratch-protection film used to protect high-end sports cars like Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Teslas.
Created by two Toronto-based inventors, JP Richards and Doug Assaly, the Naked Case is ultra-clear and just 0.2mm thick, and uses self-healing technology to make case scratches disappear.
Applying the film takes a few minutes, and involves carefully cleaning the back and sides of your iPhone, submerging the film and release-sheet in water, removing the film, and applying it to the back of your phone, and then the edges. Wait ten minutes, or blast it with a blow-dryer, and your iPhone will be protected from scratches.
While the MSRP for the cases is $40 for the iPhone 7 ($45 for iPhone 7 Plus), there’s a crowdfunding campaign running at the moment that will let you get one for $30 CAD/$22.44 USD. Go to the Kickstarter page to find out more, and make a pledge.
There are also Naked Cases available for the Matte Black iPhone 7, because the original glossy Naked Cases apparently didn’t look right on it.
