Redhat 6.2 Coming Soon

Although absent from the main Redhat FTP, Linux Redhat 6.2 files are beginning to surface on mirror FTP sites, and should be available for download within the next few hours. The first 6.2 betas have been known to have many bugs, but Redhat claims most of these have been fixed.

Redhat is one of the few Linux distributions to release a public beta test before releasing the final product. The new version will feature USB suport, as well as multi-monitor desktop capabilities.

Amiga Resurrected

On April 1, 2000, the debut of the latest Amiga machines will commence at a demonstration in St. Louis dubbed 'Amiga 2000.' The current owners of Amiga, Inc. will unveil a new line of developers' computers, along with a new OS. Amiga is frequently acknowledged as the company that has been affiliated with Commodore, Escom and Gateway over the years.

The new soon to be released PCs will be the introduction to Amiga's comeback. "It won’t be a machine people just laugh at," remarked Amiga fan Philip Corner.

Scientist Furthers Work on Data-Transmission Breakthrough

If physicist Luke Stewart can do what he says he can - send voice, video, and data thousands of miles over electric lines at the speed of light - he will produce perhaps the most significant development in communications since Alexander Graham Bell. That could take the company he cofounded in North Dallas, Media Fusion L.L.C., to heights greater than Microsoft in both earnings and market value.

Already, Media Fusion has a $1.5 billion licensing deal with a company representing rural electric cooperatives and their 30 million customers, about a dozen similar deals pending, and $100 million offers to buy equity in the company. That’s a lot of dollar confidence in a system not yet fully proven.
