One of the most recent updates released by Microsoft that has had something of an unwanted payload is the KB5015878 update for Windows 10. Many people installing the update found that it broke audio on their systems.

Microsoft has not only acknowledged the problem, it has also issued a fix. The company is using a once-rare-but-becoming-increasingly-common Known Issue Rollback (KIR) to recall the update. Sadly, it will be of no use to people who are experiencing audio problems!

Although Microsoft would prefer users to switch to Windows 11, plenty of people and organizations prefer, understandably, to stick with the older, tried and tested Windows 10.

The software giant is preparing to release the next feature update for this OS, and from today Insiders can install the first preview build of Windows 10, version 22H2.

Microsoft releases KB5015878 update preview to bring notification improvements and more to Windows 10

Microsoft has released a new update for Windows 10 that not only addresses various issues with the operating system, but also adds new notification options for the focus assist feature.

KB5015878 is a non-security update, and it is a preview of the update that will be released more widely next month. Available for Windows 10 version 21H1 and 21H2, as well as Enterprise, Education and Server editions of the OS, the update will be of interest to anyone who has experienced problems with docking station internet connectivity, video playback in games, and other issues.
