More Than Just MP3s on Napster

Word has spread quickly of a new tool for Internet file sharing on Napster, "Wrapster," named for its ability to wrap a collection of files into an archive file that looks like a real MP3 file, but functions much like a ZIP file.

According to the Wrapster Web site, "the software creates archives that can contain anything from movies, full albums and the latest software releases to just plain old images and perl scripts."

The archives can be searched for on Napster’s network by looking for a specially preset bitrate and frequency that identifies them as Wrapster files.

The bitrate for Wrapster files is 32 Kb/s and the frequency is 32000 Hz. These search parameters are necessary to find Wrapster files.
