Linux Kernel 2.4.0 Test Version Available

On Wednesday of this week, beloved Linux guru Linus Torvalds released a test version of the upcoming 2.4.0 kernel of Linux. While the original release goal was set for 1999, the vast improvements to the system took longer than expected says Torvalds. Improvements to the kernel allow it to run on high-end servers with multiple CPUs and adds support for the popular USB desktop technology. He calls this version test10-final according to mailing-list postings. The final version of this kernel is expected soon, as no major problems are expected with the final test release.
