iRiver unleashes a stream of products at CES

There are a dozen products on iRiver's CES announcement list -- devices for networking, devices for getting around town and enjoying one's music, including two that are pretty Mickey Mouse.

The world's most famous rodent graces two solid-state MP3 players, the Mplayer Eyes and the Mplayer Season II. The Eyes model is a 2 GB player, available in pink or blue, with white LED eyes that speak to you of...well, MP3s. The 1 GB Season II model comes in 10 colors and, like its sibling, connects via the USB port.

There are two MP4 players in the lineup, the E100 Season2 and the E50. Both are flash memory-based. The Season2, which comes in 2-, 4- and 8 GB versions, incorporates a speaker and microphone and a 2.4" LCD screen. The smaller E50, which iRiver says can play for up to 52 hours on a charge, has a 1.8" LCD screen and comes in 2- and 4 GB models.

The company categorizes the P7, P10 and P20 as personal media players. The P7 handles music, video, photos and FM radio; it's solid-state based with a MicroSD slot. The company claims around 50 hours of playback time. The P10 is the world's first to use a 1.3" HDD, which weighs in at 33 GB. It can work with video, music, photos, text, voice recording, and FM radio; it also includes an e-dictionary.

The P20 is the highest capacity unit, with 80 GB and 120GB versions promised. It does not lack for inputs (SD, CF) or outputs (microphone, TV). It can work with video, photos, music, and FM radio (which it can also record); it includes a dictionary and even a game.

IRiver has four networking devices debuting this week. One of them is an Internet phone, the iRiver W10; it can also download music from Bugs Music, play FM radio, and act as a video/photo viewer. The Unit 2-S (who names these things?) also has phone functionality but acts as a multimedia home device, which means a Web browser, net radio capabilities, SMS/MMS, and all the features you'd find on other entertainment devices. The 16 GB D50N has a keyboard and a touchscreen; it's another entertainment device with a full browser and IM capability. And the slender touchscreen P35 is Wi-Fi-capable; the 16 GB gadget has a built-in speaker includes drawing capabilities and an Office viewer along with music, photo, video and games functionality.

Finally there's the NV mini, a portable GPS. It also plays music and video, and lets you display photos when the maps aren't of use to you.
