Report: Best Buy may be Pre's exclusive retailer

The WebOSArena blog is reporting that, for the first 60 days of the Palm Pre's availability, Best Buy will be the exclusive retailer for the new device, launched by Palm at CES last week.

Citing an unnamed "credible source" for its information, the blog notes that the Palm Pre will also be sold directly by Sprint.

Last summer, Sprint launched the Samsung Instinct phone, also with Best Buy as exclusive retailer.

As reported live by Betanews from CES, Palm announced at a press conference last week that the Pre will run on Sprint's mobile network.

The Palm Pre will be operating on "most dependable network in the country," Sprint CEO Dan Hesse contended at the press conference. "So it's the best smartphone on the best platform."

Betanews is now checking into rumors of the possible deal between Palm, Sprint, and Best Buy around the Pre.
