Opera 18 brings back themes

Opera Software has unveiled Opera 18, an interesting update which sees the browser gain new multimedia support, easier tab handling, speedy search engine creation, and more.

This starts with getUserMedia and webRTC-based support for your camera and microphone, which means sites can implement advanced features like video conferencing without the need for plugins.

You’re now able to drag tabs between Opera windows, or drag and drop a tab outside of Opera to create a new window.

There’s an easier mechanism for creating search engines. Visit the page you’d like to use, right-click the Search box and choose “Create search engine”; choose a name and keyword -- reuters.com and r, say -- and you’re done. Now type the keyword and a search term (r syria) in the address bar to see any hits.

And if you’ve missed themes since the move to Chromium, good news, they’re back. Just choose “Themes” from the menu bar and download whatever you like.

Opera 18 FINAL is available now for Windows and Mac.
