Microsoft is working on a tool to simplify clean installations of Windows 10

While Microsoft has gone to great lengths to make it as easy as possible to upgrade from Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, purists will always prefer to opt for a clean installation. For seasoned Windows users, performing a clean install of Windows 10 is easy enough, but that's not true for everyone.

Acknowledging the fact that clean installations are not a piece of cake for all, Microsoft is beavering away on a new tool to simplify the process. Windows Insiders will be able to try it out before anyone else, and give feedback to help shape the final product.

The timing appears to coincide with this summer's launch of Windows 10 Anniversary Update. With just a few weeks left for people to take advantage of free upgrades to Windows 10, Microsoft is clearly anticipating a rush of upgrades as the deadline approaches. In a post on the Microsoft Community website, the company said:

Hello Windows Insiders!

Want a simple and easy way to start fresh with a clean installation of Windows? Looking for an easy way to do this? We're working on a tool to make this possible.

Final testing and validation is underway and we will want your feedback once it is ready to go! Stay tuned for additional information as we work through the finishing touches.

And as always, thank you for being Windows Insiders!

There's no word on quite how long it might be before the tool sees the light of day, but if you're an Insider you could be able to try it out very soon.
