As cyber threats become more frequent and complex, CISOs are increasingly concerned about their organization’s ability to withstand a material attack. 76 percent feel at risk of experiencing a material cyberattack in the next 12 months, yet 58 percent say they are unprepared to respond.

The latest Voice of the CISO report from Proofpoint surveyed 1,600 global CISOs across 16 countries and finds human behavior remains a critical vulnerability, with 92 percent attributing at least some data loss to departing employees.

A new report finds 78 percent of organizations report being challenged by administering and maintaining existing data loss prevention technology solutions and policies, and 94 percent report using at least two tools and, on average, more than three tools with DLP capabilities, resulting in significant man-hours to administer and maintain multiple solutions.

The study from DLP specialist MIND and Enterprise Strategy Group also shows 91 percent of organizations say it's important to reduce alert noise produced by their current DLP controls due to simple, poor and outdated classification schemes.

Almost half (48 percent) of small and medium-sized businesses in the UK have lost, or lost access to, company or customer data in the last five years.

Research, carried out by Censuswide for business ISP Beaming, shows businesses with between 10 and 250 staff have borne most of the data loss, which has cost UK companies more than £5.3 billion since 2019.

A new study from Proofpoint shows that 85 percent of organizations polled experienced at least one data loss incident in the past year. Even the country with the lowest percentage -- the UK -- still had 73 percent of respondents reporting at least one incident in the past 12 months.

What's particularly interesting though is that careless users, accounting for 70.6 percent, are much more likely to cause these incidents than compromised (48.1 percent) or misconfigured systems (45.3 percent).

With the supposedly stable build of Windows 11 being problematic for many people, it is hardly surprising that there are more issues to be found in the Insider builds; it's pretty much a given. But not all problems are equal, and Microsoft has issued a warning about the latest release that could cause users to lose data.

The issue affects Windows 11 build 26052 which is available on both the Dev and Canary channels. Details of the cause of the problem have not been revealed, but Microsoft has released important information for anyone with a Dev Drive.
