Collaboration between teams helps boost security confidence

Organizations using software to help their IT and information security teams collaborate and align are three times more confident in the effectiveness of their information security efforts according to a new study.

The report from security automation specialist SaltStack shows that 54 percent of InfoSec leaders say they communicate effectively with IT professionals, but only 45 percent of IT professionals agree.

In a survey of IT professionals, 55 percent of respondents reported that their enterprises receive at least 10,000 security alerts every day; of that group, 49 percent receive more than 1,000,000 security alerts each day. And, more to the point, 96 percent of respondents reported that their security teams feel stressed or frustrated over the volume of security alerts that come in.

It's more than mere humans can bear.

Kali Linux 2019.1 with Metasploit 5.0 available for download

The first release for 2019 of the Debian-based Linux distro Kali Linux is now available for download. Kali Linux 2019.1 sees the kernel moving up to version 4.19.13, and it also includes Metasploit 5.0.

Offensive Security's penetration testing distro is much-loved by the infosec community, and this latest release includes ARM improvements, a range of bug fixes and package updates.
