Amazon Prime Wardrobe beta: money-saving clothes shopping with free returns
Not content with splashing some cash on Whole Foods, Amazon is also spreading out into other new ventures. The latest is Prime Wardrobe, a new clothes shopping service for Prime subscribers that's currently in beta and offers the chance to "try before you buy."
The service ties in with Amazon Fashion, and it covers more than a million items of clothing. Users can select three or more items to have shipped out to them completely free of charge, and payment is only required for anything that's kept. Returns are free, and Amazon gives shoppers a full week to try out clothes.
The service covers clothes for men, women and children, and Amazon says that it takes advantage of the ultimate fitting room: your room. Anything you don't want to keep can be simply popped back into the shipping box it arrived in, and then either dropped off at a UPS location, or picked up from your front door.
On top of free shopping and free returns, Amazon is also offering up to 20 percent off orders depending on how many items you keep. A 10 percent saving is available if you choose to keep three or four items you ordered, with a 20 percent discount applied if you keep five or more.
With free shipping and returns, as well as the try-before-you-buy policy, it's hard to imagine that Prime Wardrobe won't be used to "hire" outfits for weddings and other events, but it's also a handy extra for Prime subscribers who hate the idea of clothes shopping in bricks and mortar stores.
