GNOME 48 is finally here, and as a longtime Linux user, I have to say -- it is my favorite desktop environment. I’ve tried KDE Plasma, as just one example, and while it’s packed with customization options, it always feels a little too cluttered for my taste. GNOME, on the other hand, is clean, modern, and just works. With version 48, the GNOME developers continue refining their vision with smoother performance, new features, and improved usability.

One of the best additions in this release is notification stacking. If you’ve ever been bombarded with notifications from the same app, you’ll appreciate this change. Instead of a never-ending list, notifications are grouped together, making it easier to find what’s important.

Plugable has launched its new USB-C to HDMI 8K Adapter. Dubbed "USBC-HDMI8K," this latest model is an advancement from its predecessor, featuring HDMI 2.1 compatibility, which allows for improved video and audio performance.

The USBC-HDMI8K adapter is targeted at a diverse user base, including gamers, video editors, and 3D enthusiasts, promising to deliver high-definition visuals with its support for 8K 60Hz, 4K 144Hz, HDR, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos. The company has just released the Windows HDR Calibration app to simplify the process of optimizing an HDR display. It's an app that was announced a number of months ago, but it has only just seen the light of day.

Just in time for the start of the weekend, a brand new Windows 10 build arrives for those Insiders in the Dev Channel.

The big new addition in this build is HDR support in color managed apps, but there are plenty of other changes, improvements and fixes to be found in the flight.
