Verizon gets the iPad...but it's Wi-Fi only

Verizon Wireless and Apple today announced that the iPad will be available in 2,000 Verizon Wireless Stores on Thursday, October 28th.

But don't jump out of your skin just yet, it's not a CDMA iPad.

Instead, VZW is bundling the WiFi-only iPad with a MiFi 220 mobile hotspot so it can connect to Verizon Wireless' network. Bundles start at $629.99 for the 16GB iPad and MiFi, $729.99 for 32GB iPad and MiFi and $829.99 for the 64GB iPad and MiFi.

"We're thrilled to be working with Verizon Wireless to get iPad into the hands of even more customers this holiday season," said Tim Cook, Apple's COO in a statement this morning. "iPad allows users to connect with their apps and content in a more intimate, intuitive and fun way than ever before, and together with Verizon Wireless we're offering an easy way to stay connected wherever you go."
