RockMelt comes to iOS, syncs with desktop version

RockMelt ioS AppiOS users are spoilt for choice when it comes to keeping up to date with their favorite social networks. There are a number of official and unofficial apps available for the likes of Facebook and Twitter, and there is always the option of using the mobile versions of web sites. RockMelt is an iOS app that make interacting with social networks a little easier, enabling you to view updates from Twitter, Facebook and a number of other sites in a single location.

Used to access Facebook and Twitter, RockMelt provides access to your timeline so you can view update from your friends and people you follow. Any notifications you receive from Facebook can be viewed in the app's overview screen and from here you can also create new posts complete with a photo. RockMelt allows you to post comments on items in your newsfeed so you can interact with your Facebook friends.

When used to view Twitter, the app merely provides access to your timeline so you can keep track of new tweets from others as well as replies and mentions. RockMelt can also be used as an RSS reader and the app comes with the feeds for a number of popular sites ready to activate. Of course you can also add feeds of your own so you can keep track of your social networks and news all in the same place.

An offline reading mode is available which gives you the option of marking content such as videos, photos and links for 'reading later.' This means that they will be downloaded and available for viewing even when no Internet connection is available, making it ideal for commuters looking for ways to kill time on the way to work. The iOS version of the app synchronises with the desktop software that is also available -- so any content you highlight will be available in both locations.

This is an interesting approach to social networks and RSS feeds, and you can find out more by visiting the RockMelt review page.
